Obituary of Otty James Parlee

Otty James “Jimmy” Parlee of Saint John, husband of M. Agnes (Dryden) Parlee, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 03, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Sussex on March 9, 1936, he was a son of the late Otty and Pearl (Melvin) Parlee. Jimmy worked at the Irving Oil Refinery in the steam and storage division. He loved animals, and was known for feeding the deer and the birds, and was very fond of his cat, Whiskers. He could be found daily at Tim Hortons on Lansdowne Avenue dispensing his wisdom and talking with his friends. In addition to his wife of nearly 50 years, Jimmy is survived by a son, Carl Parlee (Brenda) of Saint John; two daughters, Sheila Stevens (Dale) of Norton and Karen Goddard (John) of Saint John; grandchildren Malcolm Amirault (Mindy), Curtis Amirault, Jason Amirault (Jen), Andrew Parlee, Melissa Parlee (Robin Coggan), Jonathan Goddard, Krystal Goddard, Matthew Parlee, Westley Stevens, and Scott Parlee; great grandchildren Cadence Amirault, Bianca Hobbs, Layla Amirault, Zackary Amirault, and Alexa Coggan; brothers Frank Parlee (Florence), Kenny Parlee (Lorraine), Doug Parlee (Margaret); sisters Nancy King (Tom), Shirley Rogers (Terry Slauenwhite) and Mary Lou Duke (Danny), all of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Jimmy was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Amirault and by a son, Michael Parlee. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 12:00 Noon from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Animal Rescue League or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
