Obituary of Mary Della Ackerson

Mary Della Ackerson formerly of Chapel Grove, wife of the late James Edward Ackerson, passed away on Thursday, September 09, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on October 3, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Mary (McPhee) Martin. Della’s faithful devotion, love, and caring for her husband and family served as a blessed example to all who knew her. Della is survived by four sons, Edward (Mary Anne) of Fredericton, Clifford (Pearl) of Saint John, Terry of Quispamsis, and Robert (Kim) of Summerville; three daughters, Donna Orr (Gary) of Surrey, BC, Karen Jones (Ron) of Kars, and Elaine Perry (John) of Summerville; sisters Theresa Killen of Saint John and Eileen Snyder (John) of Quispamsis; a brother, Robert Martin (Helen) of Quispamsis; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Della was predeceased by a son, Frederick; a granddaughter, Robin Webb; brothers Fred and James; and by a sister, Eva. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Bridget’s Church, Chapel Grove, on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery.
