Obituary of Stanley Gordon Forbes

The death of Stanley Gordon Forbes, husband of Florence (Smith) Forbes, of Saint John, NB occurred on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Nashwaak Bridge, NB on June 10, 1920, he was a son of the late Angus J. and Annie Mabel (Edney) Forbes. Stanley had served in the Canadian Armed Services during World War II. Following his discharge he worked at E.S. Stephenson as a welder and went on to teach welding at the Saint John Vocational School retiring in 1985. He took great pride in his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson, his home and his garden, and snowmobiling. Besides his wife he is survived by his three children, Susan Dole of Quispamsis, NB, Gordon Forbes of Calgary, AB and Nancy Forbes-Kerrigan (John Kerrigan) of Saint John; one sister, Edith Cameron of Fredericton, NB; two brothers, Ralph (Myrtle) Forbes of Riverview, NB and Clarence Forbes of Fredericton; five grandchildren, Eric Gordon (Kathryn) Vaughan, Jonathan Seth Vaughan, Margaret Nancy Dole, Elizabeth Anne Kerrigan and Veronica Rose Kerrigan; one great-grandson, Stanley Gordon Vaughan; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters, Sarah Turner and Elizabeth Clark, and four brothers, Murray, Sandy, Harold and Shirley. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (506) 634-7425 with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from Bay View Chapel on Saturday, April5, 2008 at 2 pm. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Saint John Vocational School / Harbour View High School Scholarship Fund or any charity of choice.
