Obituary of Stanley Archibald Winslow

Stanley Archibald Winslow of Saint John, husband of V. Louise (Muller) Winslow, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Chipman on May 23, 1920, he was a son of the late Stanley J. and Christina (Taylor) Winslow. Stan began his working life as a sawyer at Joseph A. Lidley Lumber Company, where he worked for 18 years. He subsequently became the custodian of St. Mark's United Church in Greendale, from where he retired in 1989. He enjoyed the cottage at Otter Lake, and in his later years took up weaving, making many table place mats and runners. A faithful member of Lancaster Baptist Church, Stan sang with the Ambassador Men's Choir and was a member of the shuffleboard group as well. Stan also volunteered at Ridgewood Veteran's Centre, and was an associate member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Stan is survived by his wife of 43 years, V. Louise (Muller) Winslow; and several nieces and nephews and their families, to the third generation. The last surviving member of his family, Stan was predeceased by a brother, John Winslow; and by sisters Agnes Reid, Helen Jones, Rita Smith, and Marion Rogers. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West, with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM from Lancaster Baptist Church. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
