Obituary of Helen Bernier

<p>Helen Bernier (Leger) of Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John, passed away on Tuesday April 20, 2010. Helen was born on January 30, 1914 in St. Paul, N.B. a daughter of the late Suzanne (Geneau) and Ferdinand Leger, and lived the greater part of her life in Saint John.</p> <p>She was predeceased by her husband Anthony (Tony) Bernier on May 16, 1990 and her son Edward (Eddie) on January 26, 2002, and granddaughter Aimee Bernier at infancy; four brothers John, Dick, Archie, and David, and sister Emma Pauley.</p> <p>She is survived by her sister Mary Silliphant of Saint John; her brother Gilbert Leger of Chipman, N.B.; her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Bernier of Saint John; and many nieces and nephews. Helen was a woman of strong faith and convictions. She was a devoted wife and mother to eight, grandmother to eighteen, and numerous great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was a volunteer for ten years at Thursday Mass at the Villa Chapel and knitted mitts for the Christmas Outreach at the Villa. She always had a smile and lived life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves to mourn her seven children; Cecilia Walsh (John) of St. Catherine's Ont., Annette Witherington (Jim) of Saint John, Jean Bernier of Saint John, Freda Piluk (Pete) of Kitchener, Ont., Allen Bernier (Cindy), Paul Bernier (Gizelle), and Stephen Bernier (Brenda) all of Saint John.<br /><br />By Helen's request there will be no visitation. Service will be held at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., Saint John, on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations to Romero House or charity of your choice would be appreciated. <br /><br /></p>
