Obituary of Helen M. Phillips

PHILLIPS , HELEN M - The death of Helen Marie Phillips, widow of Leonard H. Phillips, of 20 Prince Edward St., occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Sunday April 25, 2010. Helen was born in Caraquet on June 1,1918, a daughter of the late Dr. J.T. and Anne (Lanouette) LeJeune. Formerly of Bathurst N.B., Helen was an active member of the CWL, and served as Past-President of the Sacred Heart Alumnae as well as Secretary to the Hotel Dieu Ladies Auxillary. An ardent Duplicate Bridge player, she was a member of several N.B. bridge clubs. She was also a graduate of Teacher's College(Normal School) and supply - taught in several Bathurst area schools. Helen was predeceased by a son Raymond Phillips, and a daughter Mrs. Eleanor Kane. She is survived by a son Douglas Phillips, of Port Elgin, Ont., and a daughter Dorothy, Mrs. Richard Basque, of Rothesay,son in law, Peter Kane, of Moncton, four grandchildren, David Kane, of Riverview, Lisa Kane, of Mississauga, Ont., Emmanuel Basque, of Bournemouth,U.K., Nathaniel Basque, of Rothesay, and one great granddaughter Kathleen Vergunst, of Mississauga, Ont. Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St. from where the funeral will be held on Tuesday April 27, 2010 to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for a mass of Christian burial at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visiting on Monday evening from 7to9pm.
