Obituary of Madeline Helen Hamm

With heavy hearts, but with appreciation for a long life well-lived, we announce the passing of Madeline Hamm (Cunningham). Born August 4, 1929, in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Madeline (Dearman) Cunningham.

Madeline worked various jobs, retiring from St. Joseph’s Hospital Dietary Department. She was Anglican by faith and was a long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary for Legion Branch 53. Madeline lived life to its fullest, with courage and zest, having moved many times and taken every opportunity to go on adventures. She made friends with everyone she met, with the biggest smile and always with a good story to tell. One could usually find her dressed to the nines at dance halls, walking in the shopping malls or enjoying a good meal with friends and family. She will be dearly missed for her kindness and generosity.

Madeline is survived by her daughter, Linda Cunningham (Richard); son, Mark Hamm (Patti); daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hamm; grandchildren: April, Markie (Michelle), Ricky (Gen), Mandy, Kati, and Nathan; great-grandchildren: Lily, Noah, and Emelia Grace; and sisters, Marrion Bannister and Dorothy Meadus.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Howard James Hamm; daughter, Brenda; son, Jim; granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Cunningham; and sisters, Kathleen Leonard and Thelma Hopkins.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Shannex for the great care they provided over the time she was there.
