Obituary of Gordon MacVicar

The unexpected death of Gordon MacVicar, husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Gibson) MacVicar, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 29, 2010. He was born on April 27, 1943 in Saint John to the late Donald and Edna (Marshall) MacVicar. He was an associate member of Germain Street Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and his family. Besides his loving wife of nearly 43 years, he is survived by his sons: Andrew and Kevin (Charity); daughter, Amy Peters (Jason); his beloved grandchildren: Mercedes, Bronwyn, Bryson, Matthew and Scarlett all of Saint John and several cousins. Over a long career he worked for NB Power, NS Power, and Courtney Bay Generating Station. He was senior Commissioning Assistant at Point Lepreau Generating Station. He had spent, 18 years as an instructor in the Power Engineering Technology Program at NBCC. After his retirement, Gordon worked casually for NB Power and Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club. He was a heating plant operator at UNB. Gordon conducted training at the Irving Oil Refinery. He thoroughly enjoyed his work at the Salvation Army Booth Center as a maintenance worker and most recently City Laundry. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Saturday from 7 – 9 PM and Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 – 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 12 Noon. Interment will following in Fernhill Cemetery.
