Obituary of Frank Collins

Peacefully, surrounded by his family the death of Frank Collins, husband of Claire (Gallant) Collins occurred on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on March 31, 1923 in Saint John to the late Francis and Alexis (Fracker) Collins. Frank served his country in World War II. He graduated from St. Vincent’s High School and St. Thomas University. Frank was the life long president of the class of 1950 from St. Thomas. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 and the Retired Teachers Association. Frank was an avid gardener, nature and animal lover and an avid Ted Williams Boston Red Sox fan. Besides his devoted wife Claire, of over 59 years, Frank is survived by their six children; Judith Collins (Mark Livingstone) of Saint John, David (Barbara) of Halifax, Martha MacPherson (Kim) of Moncton, Tim (Donna) of Saint John, Eileen Dobson (Allan) of Saint John and Frank (Jodi) of Fredericton; nine grandchildren: Sarah, Carla, Brian, Jenica, Lauren, Danny, Ryan, Ben and Finn; one great granddaughter, Matilda and several nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Kenneth and Ralph and sisters, Margaret and Joan. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 12 noon. A private family interment will take place at later date in Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Romero House, Animal Rescue League, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
