Obituary of David Edward Casey

Surrounded by family, David Edward Casey passed away peacefully on October 21, 2022.

Born in Moncton, NB on January 12, 1950 to Joseph Edward Casey and Irene Casey (Burke), he grew up in Fredericton, where he played hockey for Fredericton High School (grad 1968). David obtained a BBA from the University of New Brunswick in 1972 and then earned his Chartered Accountant designation in 1974 as a member of the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants. David married the love of his life Linda Joyce Casey (Peters) on March 27, 1971.

David is survived by his three sons, Peter, Andrew (Natalie) and Sean (Kate); 7 grandchildren, Allison (Jesse), Anderson, Audrey, Abigail, Evelyn, David and Ella; siblings Devota (Gary), Darlene (Robert), Dale (Paula), Dorothy (Tim), Doreen (Chris) and Dolores; 11 nieces and nephews; his sister-in-laws, Bonnie and Eunice. He is predeceased by his parents, Linda’s parents Jarvis and Margaret Peters, his brother Doug and his nephew Chad.

David was a passionate golfer and longtime member at the Westfield Golf and Country Club where he was on the board of directors and served as President, Vice President and Treasurer. Devoted to his profession, David established his accounting practice in 1982 and was joined shortly thereafter by his longtime business partner Frank Ashe. He served as Finance Commissioner for the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield for 38 years and has been instrumental in the operation of the Saint John Jeux Canada Games foundation since it was established in 1984.

Other favorite pastimes included travelling with Linda and spending time with his family and treasured friends. All who met him were touched by his spirit, charm and zest for life.

We appreciate the care and compassion shown by Dr. Bewick, Dr. Liwski and the entire staff in the 5A North Cardiac Intensive Care Unit during the last two weeks of David’s life.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424).
