Obituary of F. Pauline Allan
Her family is saddened to announce the death of Pauline Allan on Sunday November 20, 2022. She was born in West Saint John on December 10, 1919 and she was a life-long resident of Saint John.
She was predeceased by parents Giles and Eva (Givan) Allan and siblings Vincent, Leonard, Giles, Florence, and Harris. She is survived by one sister-in-law (Vesta Allan), six nephews and nieces, seventeen grand-nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews, with whom she shared loving relationships.
Proudly employed for forty-four years with NBTel and Aliant Telephone, she retired in 1981 from a supervisory position in Human Relations. A member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Pauline was secretary-treasurer and past-president of the NB Chapter. She served on Boards of the Victorian Order of Nurses and West Side Food Bank.
Pauline was a life-long member of the United Church of Canada and active in the West Side Kirk, St. Giles (Martinon), Carleton-Kirk, and United Church Women. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 85 years, a charter member of Philip A. Jerguson Chapter, and held numerous offices including Worthy Grand Matron of NB and Appointed Officer of International General Grand Chapter. Pauline travelled in the US and Canada and participated in the Institution of the first Chapter of the Eastern Star in Naples, Italy.
The family greatly appreciates the depth of caring and compassion of Dr. Elizabeth Keyes and staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital. We are indebted to Carol McLennan and Vivien and Sarah for their care.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B (634 1701). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Monday November 28 from the Carleton-Kirk United Church. Interment will take place in Old Cedar Hill Cemetery with a reception to follow in the Church Hall. Visitation will be held at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home on Sunday, November 27, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. An Eastern Star service will be held at Castle Funeral Home on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at 6:00 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to any charity.
