Obituary of Martha McGraw
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Martha McGraw announces her passing on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, following a brief illness. Martha was 93 years old.
Martha was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She leaves behind her loving son, Paul R. McGraw, her cherished grandsons Sean (Betsy) and Daniel, and her beloved great-grandchildren, Abbigail and Euan as well as daughter-in-law Debbie. In addition, her sisters Cécille Legere of Rivière du Portage, NB, and Thérèse Gagnon of Sept Isles, Que. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by her adopted family in Saint John, Russell and Louise Belyea and their family Paul (Karine), Michael (Danielle), Mark (Tina) and Stephanie.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Charlie, her parents Pierre & Elizabeth (Haché) Légère, twin sister Gertrude, sisters Anna, Yvonne, Emilia, Patricia, Albertine, Norma, half-sisters Alfreda and Alvina and her brother Allard.
Martha was born in Rivière du Portage, NB and resided in the Lower Westside of Saint John since the mid 1950’s. Throughout her 93 years, Martha’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her. Martha was a source of strength and inspiration to her family. Her love for her family and friends was evident in all that she did, and her legacy of compassion and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Arrangements are being handled by Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, NB. where visitation will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday November 27, 2024, followed by a mass of Christian burial to celebrate Martha’s life at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Row, Saint John beginning at 12:00PM.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital ER and SICU Departments for the exceptional care and compassion they provided during her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Martha’s memory to Hospice Miramichi Inc. Martha will be deeply missed, but her love and memories will remain with her family forever.
