Obituary of Donald Arthur Rogers

It is with indescribable sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Rogers (74) on January 23rd, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. Don was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on February 11th, 1950 to loving parents, Douglas & Janet Rogers. Don was raised in Acton, Ontario with his parents and four siblings.

Don was known for his incredible dedication to The Huntsville Legion Branch 232, and his love and respect for veterans and their sacrifices made. Throughout his years committed to the Legion, he held many positions which included but not limited to, President 1st, 2nd, and 3rd vice, as well as his passion & involvement with the annual Track & Field held by the Huntsville Legion for the local community.

Aside from his genuine passion to give back to his community and profound respect for all veterans and military personnel, Don had a love for the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, gardening, or a game of golf were just a few to name. Don enjoyed travelling to warm destinations especially Cuba with his adoring wife of 27 years Darlene Rogers. The two found solace in the many beautiful beaches and the sound of the ocean splashing against the shoreline while enjoying an ice-cold beverage, walking hand in hand embracing all the beautiful places they came across during one of their many adventures together.

Known for his incredible sense of humour and words of wisdom, Don did his very best to guide and support all who he cared for. From his position on politics, to his love for music dating back to his days playing the drums, he shared lessons learned and guidance with his children and grandchildren. As the proud poppa he was, celebrating milestones, and accomplishments with his family and friends were moments he treasured.

In addition to his wife Darlene Rogers, he is survived by his brother Bill Rogers, sister Anne Mcmillan, children; Tammy Rogers, Duane Rogers, and Annette Edisbury, son-in-law Dave Edisbury, Jessica Borbely, Matthew Saunders and Lisa Wilson, son-in-law Devon Wilson, grandchildren; Nolan McCrossan, Cullen McCrossan, Paige Rogers, Reese Rogers, Emmitt Rogers, Colleena Heney, Emma Cole, Alex Edisbury, Alyssa Benne, Leah VanDyke, Gavin Payne, Hailey Payne, Olivia Wilson, Gracelynn Wilson, Jordyn Wilson, Makayla Saunders, Maverick Saunders, and Miller Saunders. great-grandchildren Bowen Benne, Callen Benne, Evelyn Benne, Wesley Edisbury, Emilie Heney, Oliver Heney as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and an abundance of wonderful friends including his best friend of 60 years Robert Janke. Along with his parents, Don was predeceased by his brothers Ian Rogers and Michael Rogers

In keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no funeral, however, a celebration of life will be held at the Huntsville Legion on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. All are welcome to attend and share your favourite memories of Don.
