A memory of Doe - our first meeting ....July 1990. Carolyn brought me "home" for the weekend from a rather intense 6 week summer course we were taking.in Fredericton. From the moment I stepped in the door of that beautiful home on Orange St., she made me feel like I was truly "home" and that I had known her forever. She gave hospitality a whole new meaning. We had a right jolly weekend, entertained by Reg with his recent retirement videos, and tales of his television career, and pampered with gourmet meals and elegant dining by Doe. It was just what we both needed. By the time we left we were refreshed and ready to return to our studies. I felt at that moment my life had been enriched by meeting this special couple.
A few years later Doe opened her home to my family when we needed to be nearby during my mom's 63 day stay at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Doe's many visits and acts of kindness to my mom during those difficult days became a godsend for me and mom as well when I was unable to be there. They became good friends, connecting with phone calls and occasional visits as they aged until Mom passed in 2008. Although we lived in different provinces in recent years, visiting Doe at Carolyn's when i returned to NB was always a cherished occasion. I consider her a substitute mother, and I thank Carolyn for sharing her with me.
My condolences to you Carolyn , also to Chris and other family members. She will be missed in this world by all who were fortunate to have known her.! There will never be another Doe!

Carolyn and family, Doe was such a special lady, who radiated love and warmth, wherever she went. I know she will be sorely missed and will leave a huge hole in your heart. She just loved getting out to see the horses and they all loved her gentle spirit. Please accept my sincere condolences, on the loss of your dear mother. Grammie Doe was an exceptional woman. I am better for having her in my life. My family is lucky to know a woman with such joy and resilience. Grammie Doe never missed an event or adventure, I think I loved that most about her. No matter how old you are, you can always find fun and excitement.

Carolyn…and Chris
My sincere condolences on the death of your dear Mother.
I recall how much fun she had the evening of Linda’s dog shower for Jazz.
Our own Mother passed at 95+ and no matter how old they were or how old we are,
it is not easy.
Love,
Eva

I am so sorry for your loss Carolyn and Chris. As a child, I thought Doe’s nickname came from her sparkling eyes and sweet smile. She was always welcoming and kind, not to mention a great cook. I looked forward to sleepovers on Orange St where it seemed Doe and Reg were always laughing about some small daily event. Her patience with barn-smelly girls was endless, as was her love for her family.

A life well lived! Theresa always had a smile on her face and was an amazing conversationalist. She always directed the conversation away from herself and made you feel as though you were the most important person in the room. She could outclass anyone in her appearance, always looking as if she walked out of a fashion magazine. Whenever you mentioned Carolyn or Chris, her face would light up in delight. She was so very proud of them. She loved living with Carolyn the last several years of her life and knew how lucky she was to have her daughters’ love and protection from the world when needed. However, we all knew that her heart was in beautiful Saint John! May you rest easy Theresa now that you are truly home. You will be missed.
