Obituary of Leonard Gordon McLaughlin

McLaughlin, Leonard – It is with great sadness that the family of Leonard Gordon McLaughlin, loving husband of Joanne (Pinnock) McLaughlin, of Quispamsis, NB announce his passing on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 87 years.

Born in Fredericton on May 12, 1937, to parents Gordon and Phyllis McLaughlin, he attended Fredericton High School and UNB Fredericton. He was fortunate to be employed by Irving Oil for the startup of the refinery in Saint John and spent the next 34 years of his career there. He always said it was the perfect job for him.

After retiring from the refinery, he enjoyed his retirement years living next to the Kennebecasis River watching his grandchildren grow up, doing projects around the yard, walking his dogs and feeding the birds.

He is missed by his wife of 61 years Joanne (Pinnock), his son David (Linda), daughter Dianne (Kevin Clark) and grandchildren Laura, Rob, Adam and Danielle; his sister Marlene (John Lutz of Toronto and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brother Glendon McLaughlin of Halifax.

There will be no services at this time with a committal service being held in the spring.

Donations in memory of Leonard may be made to Saint Andrew Kirk Cemetery Trust Fund, 196 Hammond River Road, Quispamsis, E2G1G3 (e-transfer sakirk196deposite@outlook.com), or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation. There will be no services at this time. A committal service will be held in the spring. Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119).
