Obituary of Daniel Walter Craig
With broken hearts, the family of Daniel W. Craig announces his passing on Saturday March 8, 2025. He was born in Saint John, NB on December 10,1953 to the late Walter “Bunky” and Anne (Quigley) Craig.
Danny was a true Westsider, growing up in Milford, downtown Ketepec and finally settling in Martinon, where he and his wife Bonny raised their kids. He attended the prestigious Ketepec Academy and went on to Vocational High School. At 16, he landed the job of his dreams at the Irving Pulp and Paper Mill, or as he called it ‘The Big Apple’. He was a proud and dedicated operator until his retirement in 2008. From an early age, he knew that any outing involving having to “cross the bridge”, was certainly a trip that wasn’t worth his while.
Danny was a founding member of ‘Sons of Bunk’ with his prized Honda Harley. In his free time, he loved to take on wood working projects and fix old tv’s. For many years, Beaver Lumber’s biggest competition was Danny’s basement. His tool collection was unmatched. Danny’s passion for creating things, also extended to the kitchen. He loved cooking family meals, pies, preserves and pickling anything he could get his hands on, even hot dogs. He was often heard singing crooner classics such as Dean Martin’s ‘That’s Amore’ or Johnny Reid’s ‘Darlin’. Thankfully, Danny knew the importance of always having a camcorder on hand and the boxes upon boxes of VHS’s will be eternal reminders of special family events, vacations, embarrassing moments, and most importantly- documentation of Danny’s incredible wit and sense of humor.
The west side, cool tools, good food and music could never rival Danny’s greatest pride and joy- his grandchildren, whom he loved to spoil.
In addition to his parents, Danny is predeceased by his wife Bonny in 2022. He is survived by his daughter Shawna MacDonald (Craig), sons Chad, and Ryan (Aaron), his adored grandchildren, brother Michael Craig, sisters Judy McLean (Alan), Cathy Cormier (Paul), Wendy Craig, Kim Connors, as well as Uncle Dave Salter (his best friend). His funny and sociable nature allowed him the honor of enjoying a large circle of friends, who will dearly miss him, especially the mill guys.
The life of Danny would not be complete, without recognizing his legion family which provided him with a sense of camaraderie and connection. Thank you.
On Danny’s behalf, the family also wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice. Your unwavering kindness, compassion, and exceptional care have made an immeasurable difference to Danny and to all those closest to him.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701.
