Obituary of Sheila Mary Arnott
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sheila Mary Arnott (née Galbraith) on March 16, 2025, at the age of 85, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Sheila, fondly known as DeeDee to her close family and friends, was born on May 9, 1939, and spent most of her life in the village of Lorneville, in West Saint John, New Brunswick. From her window, she loved watching the tide come in and out of the beach, a view that brought her both peace and joy. A lifelong avid reader, Sheila could often be found with her nose in a book, lost in the pages of her many beloved stories.
Sheila will be deeply missed by her husband of 65 years, Robert Arnott; her children, Jamie (Rose) Galbraith, Robert (Barb) Arnott, Gay (Allan) Fanjoy and Sarah Arnott and her sister, Pasty (Joe) Galea. Her memory will live on in her grandchildren, Coleena (Timothy) Raynor, Samantha (Sean) Prosser, Bronwyn (Chris) Mahan, Angus Arnott, Lillian (Luke) MacNeill and Kael (Jayla) Arnott; as well as her great-grandchildren, Oliver Prosser, Asher Prosser, Liam MacNeill, Millie Arnott and James Raynor.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Jane Lutes and Charlotte Flemming and her beloved daughter, Maggie Arnott.
In keeping with Sheila’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
For those wishing to honour Sheila’s memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
