Obituary of Joyce Marlene Jeffrey
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Joyce Jeffrey share her passing on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Joyce was the loving wife of James Jeffrey for 58 years. Their marriage was filled with much fun, love, and laughter. Born on February 25, 1943, in Apple River, NS, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Phyllis (McWhirter) Bailey.
Joyce suited her name well as she certainly brought “joy” to everyone around her. Joyce was a storyteller and loved to make people laugh. She was always up for a good card game and spent many hours at the Belleisle playing Canasta with friends and family. Joyce loved a great shopping expedition and loved to give the perfect gifts to her loved ones. She was generous and gave freely, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Becoming a grandmother was one of the greatest joys of her life and the time she spent with them was precious to her.
Joyce was a dedicated member of Kennebecasis Baptist Church and was active on many committees and boards. Joyce loved music and volunteered many hours participating in the choir and leading musicals. From 1991 to 2001, Joyce was the devoted church secretary at KBC.
Joyce is survived by her children; her daughter Lori Carr (Wayne), and son Chris Jeffrey (Christina), grandchildren; Bailey and Ashley Carr, sisters-in-law; Heather Winters (Gary), and Sandra Smith, nephews; Gary and Steven, and nieces; Shari and Jillian. Joyce had a very special relationship with her cousins Sandra Irving and Karen Downie who were like her chosen sisters and Jacalyn MacLean, who she treated as a secondary daughter. In addition, Joyce was blessed with many close extended family and amazing friends that became like family. Besides her parents and husband, Joyce is predeceased by her infant brother Tommy, her grandparents and several cherished aunts and uncles.
Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119) with visiting on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Kennebecasis Baptist Church, 383 Hampton Road, Quispamsis from 10 AM – 12PM. Funeral Service will take place at 1 PM at Kennebecasis Baptist Church. Interment to take place at Erb’s Cove Cemetery. Donations in memory of Joyce can be made to Kennebecasis Baptist Church.
