Obituary of Bernard Frederick Olsen
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Bernard Frederick Olsen in his 77th year on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born on August 21, 1947, in Saint John, NB, to the late William and Ann (Harris) Olsen.
Bernie will be immensely missed by his wife Dawn Olsen, children; Kelly (Mark) Thompson, Tracy (Paul) St. Coeur, Greg (Denessa Pollock) Olsen, Shane (Trish) Stokes, and Andrew Olsen, grandchildren; Cecil (Ryan) Dow, Kerry (Corey) Torrie, Natasha (Mark McGivery) St. Coeur, Meaghan (Jason) Wilcox, Beth (Raj Ubhi) Wilson, Brady, Emmy, and Maddy, great-grandchildren; Serena, Alexander, Mya, Dominick, Faith, Savannah, Hadleigh, Ryland, and Connor, siblings; Loretta (Harold) Diamond and Bill (Diane) Olsen, sister’s-in-law Lori (Paul) Savoie and Debbie Fulton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, will be lovingly reunited with his sisters Mary and Andrea, brother-in-law Tony Fulton, and father-in-law Bill Fulton.
Those who knew Bernie loved him for his happy spirit, genuine soul, and kind heart. His willingness to help others was unmatched, you could always count on him to lend a hand whenever needed—just not when it came to anything involving glue, caulking, or other messy materials. As we always teased him, he was the best “unfinished” carpenter we knew. His legacy will live on in his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched, especially his children who were the entirety of his heart.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). In keeping with Bernie’s wishes, there will be no formal services held at this time.
To honour Bernie with a memorial contribution, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Society, or to Red Head Strays. Online condolences may be shared at www.BrenansFH.com.
