Obituary of Dennis Richard Brooks
It is with broken hearts that the family of Dennis Richard Brooks announces his passing on Friday, April 25th 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by family. Dennis was born on March 23, 1955 in Saint John, NB to Michael and Marion Brooks.
Dennis had a diverse and fulfilling professional life. A skilled cabinet maker and carpenter by trade, he founded Brooks Restoration, where he applied his talents to a range of projects, from restoring churches to undertaking home renovations. Although he had the chance to become a master cabinet maker, he declined the opportunity to continue offering his services to those in need without charge. He was a generous man who always wanted to help others.
Many may also remember him as a radio DJ in the 1970s with CFBCSJ (CFBC). Furthermore, he had an entrepreneurial spirit and ran an antique store in Sussex called Memory Lane.
Dennis had a lifelong love for cars, especially his father’s Rover 3500S. It was more than just a vehicle; it held cherished memories as the car he learned to drive in. Over the years, the Rover had been sold, but Dennis and his father eventually reclaimed it and embarked on a journey to restore it together.
Above all else, Dennis cherished his children and grandchildren. He loved creating special memories with them. Whether it was flying model airplanes with his son Cody, painting with Tiffany, giving Devon his first driving lessons and posting pictures to facebook immediately with pride, and throwing Michelle a child’s dream Halloween party. Dennis also enjoyed travelling, especially his Viking Cruises in Europe with Ann.
Dennis will be dearly missed by his mother Marion Brooks, his wife of 14 years, Ann Brooks, his children; Michelle Brooks ( Marcus Stevenson), Tiffany Brooks, Cody Brooks ( Chavonne Guthrie), and Devon Brooks (Abbigail Sutherland), grandchildren; Kevin, Tyler, Celeste, Nigel and Ivy, siblings; June Humphrey (Steve), Michel Morrissette (Johanne Marchand), Daniel Desaulniers (Diane Toupin), Ginette Morrissette (Gilles Contant), Monan Mona Morrissette Bourque (Jean François Bourque) Johanne Morrissette Karam (Peter Karam), Wendy Post, sister-in-law Susan Alderman (Harry), Susan Brooks mother of Tiffany, Cody and Devon, and so very many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Thank you to the staff of 5CN and 3BN at the Saint John Regional Hospital; the staff at the Stan Cassidy Centre; Dr Alana Cook; and the Extra Mural Nurses especially Michelle.
In addition to his father Michael Brooks, Dennis was predeceased by his birth mother Germain Desaulniers, and siblings Lynda Morrissette and Robert Morrissette.
