Obituary of Winston Wilson
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Winston Maurice Wilson announces his passing on April 29, 2025 at the Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John. Born in Saint John in 1943, he was a son of the late Maurice Heber Wilson and Evelyn Margaret (Galbraith) Wilson and grew up in Lorneville.
Winston worked at Cody’s where he met his wife Daphne. He later worked as a rates person at C.P. Transport for many years, then shipping supervisor at Labatt’s and finally at RST before he retired. He immensely enjoyed playing hockey even into his later years. He volunteered coaching basketball with the Lancaster Minor Basketball League. For several years he was a loved Sunday school teacher in Lorneville. He particularly enjoyed family trips with the Smiths and time spent at the family cottage on the Kingston Peninsula.
He was a devout Christian, having attended the Brethren Meeting Room in Lorneville all his life. Winston was an incredibly kind and loving husband and father. He dedicated his life to his family, and he loved Daphne with all his heart. He was a humble individual and had a very infectious sense of humour. He very much enjoyed listening to classical music and particularly enjoyed music played by his two sons. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Winston is survived by his loving wife, Daphne of Saint John, sons Keith (Nick) and Jason (Angela), younger brother Daryl Wilson (Sharon), nephew Craig Wilson (Sarah) and niece Christine Ross (Greg).
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John (506-634-1701). Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1st from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, May 2nd at 11:00 AM in the Castle Fallsview Chapel. Interment will take place on Thursday, May 22 at 3:00 PM in Lorneville Cemetery.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s hospital and the Loch Lomond Villa. The care and compassion showed there sustained him in these latter years. In lieu of flowers for those who wish, memorial donations in Winston’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
