Obituary of Shelley Rose McLaughlin

Shelley Rose McLaughlin passed away peacefully surrounded by her family’s love at Bobby’s Hospice on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Shelley was born on February 22, 1967 in St. Stephen, to the late Phillip and Ella (Merrill) McKay.

Shelley will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 40 years, Dwaine McLaughlin, their children Joshua McLaughlin (Courtney) and Tiphany McLaughlin, grandchildren; Joey, Justice, Mallory, Silas, Azalya, Broden, Rayna, Xavier, Drake, Brooke, Reese, Olivia, Owen and Austin, 14 siblings, best friend Kathy Arsenault, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Shelley was predeceased by her sister Joyce.

Shelley was a woman of many talents and passions. She had a deep love for gardening and spent many happy hours creating beautiful spaces filled with flowers and greenery. She was also an incredibly gifted crafter, with a knack for cross-stitching, embroidering, knitting, building with Jenga blocks, and especially quilting. Each of her fourteen grandchildren was the lucky recipient of one of her beautiful handmade quilts, a testament to her love and dedication. Her grandchildren were truly the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Shelley also found joy in trips to the beach, particularly Crystal Beach and the Nature Park, where she loved to collect rocks.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM, a Memorial Service will follow immediately at 2:00 PM in Castle Fallsview Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Stephen. In lieu of flowers donations in Shelley’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Bobby’s Hospice or Autism Canada.
