Obituary of Linda Jean Dodge

Linda Jean Dodge, born in Saint John, New Brunswick on October 21, 1946, passed away peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice in West Saint John on May 3, 2025. Survived by her loving children Stephanie Rackley, Jonathan Dodge, two grandchildren, Lauren Chase, and Oliver Rackley, four sisters Gail Miyaji, Nancy Titus, Jane Trites, and Krista Hunter. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband Allan Lorne McKay Dodge, parents, Ernest Andrews and Jean Trites and sister Karen Andrews Brown.

Linda belonged to the New Brunswick Teachers Federation where she worked for more than thirty years in the classroom, teaching grade six. After spending most of her career at Glen Falls school, she retired from Quispamsis Middle school. In 1996 she received the Governor General’s Award, along with her late friend and colleague Janet Mckinney, for excellence in teaching. The award recognized both Linda and Janet’s “Living Loyalist Museum” where each year they brought the 1700s to life showcasing loyalist lifestyle, art and culture at Glen Falls School.

As part of a fulfilling retirement life, Linda belonged to two painting clubs, “Carnagie Colours, and the “Morning Club” meeting at the art center in uptown Saint John. There she loved spending some relaxed time honing her craft and being with other painters all working on their own original projects. You would also often find Linda at the Hampton Golf Club during the summer. The love of skiing and sailing brought on life-long friendships for Linda who forever stayed in contact and loved her dearly.

In keeping with Linda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation for Linda Jean Dodge will take place at the Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, on Thursday, May 8, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held at The Hammond River Angling Association from Noon to 4:00 pm, on Friday, May 9.
