Obituary of Ronald Edgar Titus
Titus, Ronald E. – It is with an appreciation of a life well lived and loved, that the family of Ronald Edgar Titus, darling husband of Connie Titus of Quispamsis, announce his unexpected passing on Friday, May 9, 2025.
Born on May 23, 1947, in Saint John, he was the son of Lillian E. Titus (Brown) and the late Edgar L. Titus. At an early age, Ron was passionate about designing and building various machines and won the “Gold Hammer” award in Popular Mechanics at 14 years old. Throughout his life he spent many hours building four -wheelers, model airplanes, go karts, snowmobiles and made a number of homemade trailers. He had a great interest in antique cars, where he could be found tinkering away.
In 1966, Ron met Connie, while playing his violin. Four years later in 1970, they were married and started their family and adventures together. They travelled across the country and enjoyed family camping trips. Ron worked as a machinist for over 20 years at Universal Sales, forming many friendships. He was a creator at heart, which included building his family home in Quispamsis. He thrived on being outside and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association of New Brunswick and enjoyed spending time on his four-wheeler riding through various trails with friends and family. Ron was also a member of the Saint John Model Airplane Club and built many airplanes from blueprints and kits, as well as participating in several competitions.
Music has always been an integral part of Ron’s life. He played violin in the Saint John Youth Orchestra. He was a member of Calvary Temple in the early years of his marriage where he was involved with the singing group “The Galileans.” Ron was a member and played lead guitar in the gospel group “Strings of Praise” and “Freedom Road Band” and has been a faithful member of Waypoint Church for 35 years.
Ron cherished his family, he dearly loved his children and his grandchildren, as they were the apple of his eye and always looked forward to their visits. He may have been a man of few words but was always ready for a good laugh, known for his keen sense of humour. He was humble, kind, caring, patient and always there to lend a helping hand in any project. He lived life to the fullest.
Besides his loving wife of 54 years and his 103 year old mother, Ron is survived by his children; Shawn Titus (Robin) and granddaughter Kinsley of Rothesay, Cynthia Ashfield (Mark-Anthony) and granddaughters Lauren and Charlotte of Quispamsis, sister Wanda McKinney (David) of Hampton, New Brunswick, nephew Wayne McKinney (Catherine) of Quispamsis and niece Jane Alison McKinney (Nicholas Giardini) of Toronto, Ontario and aunts; Myrt Brown and Betty Mitchell as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family and many wonderful friends. Ron will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his father Edgar Titus, Ron is predeceased by his aunt Lila Hovey, and uncles, Murray Titus and Thomas Titus.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119) with visiting on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 4 – 8 PM a Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Waypoint Church, Quispamsis. Interment to take place at Riverbank Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in memory of Ron can be made to Waypoint Church, The Saint John Hospital- Cardiac Rehab Clinic, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
