Obituary of Joyce Marie Mierwa
It is with sadness that the family of Joyce Marie Mierwa, wife of Frank Mierwa, of Quispamsis, announce her passing on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Dr. VA Snow Centre in Hampton.
Born on November 14, 1946, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Evelyn MacDonald. In their earlier years, Joyce and Frank, loved to take their family camping, all over New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, making wonderful memories together. She enjoyed volunteering with Scouts Canada as a Beaver Leader for several years in Saint John. For many years she was a potter and a member of the NB Crafts Council for several years. She also volunteered with the Recreation Department of Saint John, teaching many children how to make pottery. She loved helping the children make their own personal creations to take home. When Joyce, wasn’t working on her pottery, she enjoyed spending time in her garden, but nothing was more important than spending time with her family and volunteering with the Awana Children’s Program at True Life Church.
Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, her children; Joe of Quispamsis, and daughter Selina Benson (Stewart) of Saint John, brothers; Cameron MacDonald (Sonya) of Halifax, NS, and Grant MacDonald (Sherry) of Halifax, NS, sister Grace Brewster (Darrell) of Fredericton, cherished grandchildren; Corey and Jonathan Benson, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Joyce will be missed by all who knew her.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters June and Colleen.
