Celebration of Life

Obituary of Paula Elizabeth Baldwin
On May 15, 2025, Paula Elizabeth Baldwin (Woodcock), daughter of Paul and Anita (Grimmer)Woodcock, finally decided it was time to make the long-awaited journey to be reunited with her heavenly family. Predeceased by her parents, her sister Jacqueline and brother Peter, each of whom she has missed beyond measure. We are comforted knowing they are finally all together again.
Left to mourn her loss and celebrate her life are husband Gerald Baldwin, son Michael (Michelle) and her very special niece Pam (Nesbitt). Proud Nana to Lauren, Isaiah and Bryden, Paula’s grandchildren are left knowing how fiercely she loved them, and they have been the absolute light of her life. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, all of whom have had a special place in her heart.
Paula was born in St. Stephen N.B, the youngest of 3 children. Her treasured memories of her childhood and her deep love of family were the foundation she built her legacy of love and family traditions on. She carried on her father’s love of hockey as an avid fan, cheering from the stands for the past 40 years (or more). She was a force in the stands anytime Michael, Isaiah or Bryden were on the ice. In her later years as an avid and loyal Sea Dogs fan, she made sure the team was adequately rewarded for their efforts with her signature chocolate chip cookies.
Paula worked several jobs over the years, from Statistics Canada to the Co-op in Fredericton, Paula was smart and talented, but what mattered most to her were the friends she made along the way. Her work stories were always about the people she worked with, their families, adopting them all in her own special way.
Paula lived for holiday events. She strived for and usually achieved perfection in preparing for family gatherings. From the meticulously trimmed Christmas tree to the most delicious meal, these celebrations of tradition filled her heart (and our tummies) leaving us with many great memories and rituals we’ll carry on in her honour.
Paula made many friends over the years, from the camping community at Keene’s Lake to Ladies Bridge Club, Paula loved to socialize, play cards, and tell stories about her family. In her final days, those closest to her had the opportunity to express their love for her, hug her and give back so much of the love she had given us, filling her up for her long journey home.
Paula’s family extends a heartfelt thanks to the care team at Bobby’s Hospice and 4CN. Her final days were not easy ones, the compassion, care and kindness meant so much to her and us.
The arrangements have been entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, (506 634 1701). As per Paula’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Paula’s life will be held on Wednesday May 21, at Castle ‘Fallsview” chapel at 11:00am. A reception will follow the celebration of life. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Bobby’s Hospice. Online condolences can be made at www. Castlefh.ca
