Obituary of Margaret Carmel Stevens
It is with profound sadness that the family of Margaret (Peggy) Carmel Ann Stevens announces her passing on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on September 29, 1925, Peggy lived a long and meaningful life grounded in love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Peggy will be deeply missed by her loving children: Debbie (Vince), Rick (Charmagne), Kevin (Bonnie), and Scott (Christina). She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Tina (Rick), Tim (Bethany), Robin (Brent), Jamie (Holly), Shea (Christine), Raymond (Sarah), Corey (Katharina), Daniel (Nicole), Megan, and Cooper, as well as 17 precious great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is lovingly reunited with her beloved husband Alfred Stevens, her parents George and Mary Ann (Perry) Perry, her brothers Art, Lawrence, and Joseph Perry, and her sisters Doris Green, Cecilia Ross, and Lillian Vartazaroff.
A true matriarch, Peggy was the heart of her family—respected, admired, and dearly loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering kindness will live on in the memories of those she touched.
Peggy had a remarkable gift for connecting with people. She was well-known in the community for her love of volunteering, bowling, bingo, and card games. No matter where she went, she always seemed to run into someone she knew.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Dobbelsteyn’s Special Care Home, the dedicated PSWs from Bayshore Home Care Solutions, and the caring nurses and doctors on 5BS at the Saint John Regional Hospital. A special thank you to Eric Lesser, NP, for his exceptional care and compassion over the years—your support meant so much to Peggy and her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held this coming fall to honour Peggy and the incredible legacy she leaves behind. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
