Obituary of Bing Harris

It is with broken hearts the family announce the passing of Jon Bing Harris, on Wednesday May 14, 2025, at the Charlotte County Hospital after a period of failing health, with his family by his side. Born in Saint John, N.B. on March 12, 1935, Bing was a son of the late Charles Harris, and he was the beloved husband of Lauretta Ethel (Moyer) Harris.

Bing grew up in Saint John, NB and after graduating from Rothesay Collegiate, He took a position with Excise Canada as an Auditor in Halifax, NS. Bing quickly moved up the ranks, transferring to Sydney, NS and then to Ottawa Ontario as an Auditor 2. While supporting his beloved family, Bing obtained his RIA degree, CMA, and CPA.

Bing had other desires such as one day running his own accounting practice and decided to transfer to Revenue Canada as an Auditor in Saint John, back to more familiar surroundings.

He left Revenue Canada and worked for a short time with Royal Trust as he continued to build his own practice on the side. In 1984 he succeeded his dream of running his own accounting firm.

If his life wasn't full enough, he was a wonderful husband, father who raised 4 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bing was an avid runner and completed dozens of Marathons over his life including the Boston Marathon. He dedicated time every day to strength training and weightlifting, he loved going for walks and any activity that would get him outdoors. He was a great friend and mentor to all of us and lived every day to the fullest. A True inspiration.

Bing is survived by his wife; Lauretta, three sons; Michael Harris, Martin (Darlene) Harris, of Calgary, Brent (Holly) Harris, of Saint John, one daughter; Julie Harris, of Saint John, four grandchildren; Andrew “Cory” Harris, of Saint John, Eric Harris, of Calgary, Bradley (Makayla) Harris, of Saint John, Rachel Harris, of Calgary, two great grandchildren; Jayden Harris, of Saint John., and Sebastian Harris, of P.E.I., one brother; Frank (Lori) Harris, of Quispamsis, one sister; Debbie (Jean) Robichaud, of Quispamsis, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bing was predeceased by his father, Charles Harris, brother; Charles Harris.

Resting at Castle Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). A visitation will be held on Wednesday May 21, 2025, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Parish (St. Matthew’ Catholic Church) 45 Dollard Dr. Saint John, N.B. on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 12:00PM.
