Jody Dempster

Obituary of Jody Louis Dempster

With heavy hearts, the family of Jody Louis Dempster announce his passing, which occurred Monday, May 19, 2025, in Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John on December 21, 1968, he was the son of Cheryl Dempster and the late Louis Dempster of Upham, NB.

In Jody’s younger years he participated in scouts and was active in track and field. He was also an Altar Boy at St. Peter’s Church, Upham.

Jody proudly achieved 2nd place blackbelt in karate at Provincials, and we can’t forget those Jr. High break dance moves.

Jody was a country boy at heart and always enjoyed fishing, hunting, prospecting, biking, fiddle heading and recreational gardening.

Jody’s occupation as a cook was more than just a job; it was truly something he enjoyed- especially when he had the chance to cook steak, salmon, scallops and lobster. His recent favourite food cravings during treatments were KFC and banana cream pie.

Our oldest brother Jody lost his long battle with alcohol/drug addiction and his courageous 2-year fight with cancer. It’s been a hard, painful road.

Jody’s fight is over—no more pain, no more suffering. We know with our whole hearts that he is now at peace.

In addition to his mom, Cheryl Dempster; brother, Sonney Dempster (Angie), sister, Tammy Greer (Darren) and their families, Jody is survived by his son, Justin Dempster; granddaughter, Breeze Dempster of Nova Scotia; and several cousins, uncles and an aunt.

We will carry your memory with us all forever. Love Always.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). A private graveside burial will be held at a later date.

Donations in memory of Jody can be made to the St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Upham, NB, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
