Obituary of Gayle Cecilia Patstone

It is with great sadness that the family of Gayle Cecilia Patstone (Flynn) announces her passing on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at her home. She was the loving wife of her
predeceased husband Roger Patstone. She wished to stay home in her last times and that wish was graciously honored by her son Darren Fleming (Helen Hakansson) of Renforth, N.B.

Gayle was the first of 8 brothers and sisters born to Frederick and Hazel (Hannah) Flynn. Russell Flynn (Renee) of Dartmouth, N.S., John Flynn (Rosalyn), James Flynn (Angela), Valerie Flynn, and Charles Flynn (Brenda). She will also be missed by her step-children Ron Patstone, Chris Patstone, and Mariann Patstone Gillan, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Elaine and Alison Flynn.

Gayle grew up in East Saint John, where she graduated from Simonds Regional High School. She married Darren’s father Mariner Fleming. She spent many years working at the Department of Veterans Affairs. She moved on managing Remax after the passing of her husband Roger in 1987. She moved on from this as well into the retail business with Bombay Company and Pier 1 where she was well known for her pleasantness and professionalism.

Loving and devoted mother, sister, and friend. Gayle made everyone feel special. She put a lot of thought into family and friend gatherings whether it be a birthday celebration, wedding shower, or the best Christmas dinners with all the family. She was liked and loved by many.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visitation will take place at Brenan’s on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, with a funeral liturgy taking place immediately following the visitation in Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
