A Mass of Christian Burial

Obituary of Christopher Andrew Waldron
Christopher Andrew Waldron, 50, of Saint John, New Brunswick died unexpectedly at home on May 28, 2025. Chris was born on August 7, 1974 in Saint John’s, Newfoundland, to the late Donald Edgar Waldron Junior and Jane Marie Waldron (nee MacDougall) of Saint John, New Brunswick and lived there until the age of 3 when his parents became concerned about the thick Newfoundland accent and slang Chris was developing and the inability of their families in NB to understand what Chris was saying. The family moved to an apartment in Bedford, Nova Scotia, where Chris’s brother, John MacDougall Saye Waldron, was born and where they met Chris’s second mother, Sharon Gillam-Locke, who lived in the apartment across the hall. Sharon and Jane co-parented Jane’s two boys and Sharon’s daughter, Rebecca LeBlanc nee Hiltz, who although not related by blood or marriage, became Chris’s sister through choice. Chris’s parents built a house in the Highland Park subdivision in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia and Sharon and her husband, Don Locke, moved down the street shortly after. Chris had many fond memories of his childhood and youth, growing up in Hammonds Plains, and he still kept in touch with his friends from there until the day he died.
Chris attended Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford, Nova Scotia where he excelled at being the class clown. In every class, he was known to be the one who cracked the best jokes and he had the gift of being able to make the teachers laugh too. He was probably the only grade 11 student to ever win the coveted prize of “Mr. CPA” (a beauty pageant spoof for the male students) as well as the only student who won two years in a row. Chris was well known for his bang-on impression of George Bush, and was talented at doing impressions of both celebrities and people he knew. He kept all his family and friends in stitches with his stories, jokes and impressions. Nothing would make us all happier right now than a perfectly timed joke from the master! Many often said that Chris should have been a comedian or a writer/actor on his favorite show, Saturday Night Live (SNL). His mother, Jane, will tell you that in high school, she never worried that Chris was out getting into trouble on a Saturday night, because he was always home by 12:30am to watch SNL. It was in Rick Plato’s grade 10 Canadian Studies class that Chris first met his wife, Tammy Waldron (nee Cleveland) in 1989. They had a little crush on each other and made eyes at each other across the room, talked on the phone for a bit, but never dated because neither one could drive a car and both the Cleveland parents and the Waldron parents thought it was too far of a drive between Lakeview and Hammonds Plains, NS in the winter for the couple to have a real in person date. But don’t worry, their story didn’t end there.
After graduating high school in 1992, Chris attended Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. The Waldrons had moved to Markham, Ontario, the year Chris started university and after working briefly in Halifax at the Casino, and trying to find work in Finance in Halifax, Chris also moved to Markham where he worked at UpJohn Pharmaceuticals with his father. He later worked at AIM and AIM-Trimark, and some other financial firms doing finance stuff. He would tell you in more detail if he was here. In 2008, after the financial crash, Chris moved back to Saint John and it was here where he had Congestive Heart Failure. Chris was a fighter though, and against all odds, he survived and shortly after, he found Tammy on Facebook and they finally had that long overdue in-person date. Tammy was in Yarmouth and Chris was living on his uncle Joey’s farm in Lincoln, New Brunswick. Chris and Tammy finally had their in-person date by meeting at the halfway point, most fittingly, at the Halifax International Airport, in the community where they both first met. They fell for each other quickly and very soon after, Chris moved to Yarmouth where Chris worked for a time at the Scotiabank and at Knowledge First Financial.
Chris loved his grandparents very much and when his grandmother, Gracie Waldron (nee Mawhinney) died in 2014, Chris and Tammy made the decision to move to Saint John to be closer to Chris’s remaining grandparents, Kathleen MacDougall (nee Mooney) and Don Edgar Waldron Sr.. In 2018, Chris and Tammy moved to Saint John where Chris continued working for Knowledge First Financial. Unfortunately, Chris’s grandmother MacDougall died shortly before Chris and Tammy moved to Saint John, but Chris was able to spend many months living with his grandfather, “Sport” before he died on February 14, 2019.
Chris is survived by wife, Tammy; his mother, Jane and her spouse, Harley Kieran (Halifax); his brother John and sister-in law, Parissa Waldron (nee Safai) (Toronto); his mother-in-law, Trudy Cleveland (nee Eaton) and father-in-law Laurie Cleveland; brother-in-law, Laurie Cleveland and sister-in-law, Jennifer Smith (Dartmouth); nieces Kiana Waldron and Brier Cleveland; and nephew Camron Waldron. He is also survived by his half sister, Anne Waldron and half-brothers, Ethan and Adam Waldron. He is survived by his MacDougall side aunts all in Saint John: Martha Desmond (Pat), Mary Morrison, Elizabeth Phillips (Brian), Eileen MacDougall and uncles Alan, Jack, Robert and Colin. He is also survived by his aunt Margo Hall (Waldron). He is also survived by 48 cousins. He was predeceased by his older brother Christopher Michael Waldron, his father, Donald Edgar Waldron, his uncle Arthur David Waldron, his grandparents Don and Grace Waldron, Kathleen (Kaye) and Joseph MacDougall, aunts Anne MacDougall, Suzanne Cuttle, uncle Joseph MacDougall, cousins Stephen MacDougall, Heather Maines, and second cousin Harvey Drysdale.
