Obituary of Roy Douglas Gilmore
Roy Douglas Gilmore passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Turnbull Nursing Home. Roy was born on July 9, 1944 in Saint John, NB to the late Charles and Margaret Gilmore.
Roy will be dearly missed by his long time companion; Charlene Osborne, his children; Roy Albert Gilmore (Dawn), Shelley Boudreau (Larry), and Margaret Gilmore, grandchildren; Megan Fowler (Cole), Kristen Todd (Ricky) Justin Boudreau, Kaitlyn Boudreau, Jocelyn Boudreau (Mathew), and Connor Gilmore, great grandchildren; William, Crystal and Haven, siblings; Wilson Gilmore (Carol), Martha Shaw, William Gilmore (Brenda), and Barry Gilmore (Andrea), and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his wife, Linda Eileen (Janes); son, Trent Douglas Gilmore; daughter- in- law, Stacey Gilmore (Gates), and brother-in-law, Larry Shaw.
Throughout his life, Dad dedicated himself to various professions, ultimately retiring as an Operating Instructor at the Department of Transportation. His diverse career also included work as a lobster buyer, a gravel truck owner, a snow plow operator, and even cutting pulpwood in the woods. Beyond his work, Dad was an active and passionate member of the New Brunswick Horse Pulling Association. Dad attended many events over the years and was very proud of his well-earned trophies. He was also an avid Blue Jays Fan and enjoyed watching many games, as well as making his yearly trip to Pennsylvania with his long-time friend, Gordy Carvell, where they enjoyed visiting the Amish country side. He was also a devoted member of his Parish of St. Margaret’s Anglican Church in Lepreau.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26th from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at St. Margarets Anglican Church, 2595 Rte 175, Lepreau. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, June 27th at 11:00 AM in St. Margarets Church. Interment will follow in Lepreau Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Margarets Anglican Church, Lepreau Cemetery Fund, Turnbull Nursing Home or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at SJRH 4BN, Rocmura Nursing Home and Turnbull Nursing home for the excellent and tender loving care that Dad received while in their care.
