Obituary of Wesley Malcolm "Mac" Nelson
It is with an appreciation for a life well-lived that the family of Wesley Malcolm “Mac” Nelson, cherished husband of Betty (Jenkins) Nelson, announce his passing which occurred on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Kennebec Manor. Born on March 31, 1932 in Saint John, he was a son of the late George and Lillian (Gibbs) Nelson.
Mac had a long working career (35 years) with NBTel, where he worked his way up the ladder from a telephone installer to the business office manager. He was a man of great faith and was a devoted member of Grand Bay Baptist Church. Mac always took much comfort in his beloved church community. He was a lover of music and sang in the church choir and with the Men of Fundy. Mac was passionate about vegetable gardening and together with Betty the two enjoyed many bus trips to various locations as tour guides. He had great memories of his summer days spent at his cottage on the Belleisle Bay. Mac will be greatly missed and will always be fondly remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grampy, great-grampy and uncle.
In addition to his wife, Betty, Mac will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Ron Nelson (Debbie) and Paul Nelson (Wanda); daughter-in-law, Chris Nelson; he was Grampy to his grandchildren, Andrew (Melinda), Kelly (Joel), Tony (Kim), Daniel (Andrea), Jeffery (Iyesha), Tim (Jessica) and Emily (Mike) and he was a Great-Grampy to his great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jaydon, Ayla, Ayden, Eli, Kate, Kendra, Ellie, Thomas, Greta and Henry. Mac is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Bill; sister, Joyce; son, Gary and great-grandson, Landen.
Mac's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Kennebec Manor for the loving care that they always provided.
Visitation will take place at Grand Bay Baptist Church, 77 Woolastock Drive, Grand Bay-Westfield on Thursday, July 3, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. A reception will follow in the church. A private interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
