Obituary of Phyllis Elizabeth Murray

It is with heartfelt sorrow, the family of Phyllis Elizabeth Murray, wife of Arnold Murray, announce her passing on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Born on March 11, 1942, in Harvey, NB, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Rolfe) Edgett. In her earlier years, Phyllis worked at McDonald’s and A&W, until being employed with Northern Telecom for several years until her retirement. Phyllis and Arnold were married in 1987 and shared many wonderful times together. They were members of the Hampton Square Dancers for many years, enjoying dressing up, listening to music and dancing. They enjoyed camping, taking their granddaughters to Fundy National Park when they were younger. Arnold and Phyllis spent twenty years travelling through Canada and the United States with their RV, making Casa Grande, AZ, and Alberta their second home. Phyllis loved listening to Elvis, and country music. She enjoyed Nascar, and watching her soap opera “Days of Our Lives”. Phyllis adored and loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew her.

Besides her loving husband, Phyllis is survived by her daughter Brenda Davis of Hampton, son Gary McKenney (Jackie Marcotte) of SK, and stepson Michael Murray (Mary-Ann) of AB, brothers; Arthur Edgett (Anna) of Saint John, Alvin Edgett (Phyllis) of Rothesay,  Garnett Edgett (Viola), Ronald Edgett, and Raye Edgett (Amanda) all of Saint John, sisters; Carolyn Dignard, and Marilyn Freeze (George), both of Saint John, granddaughters; Kimberly Davis (Jerami), and Katelyn Davis (Corey), great grandchildren, Abigail, Lillian, and Casey, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Besides her parents, Phyllis is predeceased by her first husband Victor McKenney, brother Russell Edgett, son-in-law Stephen Davis, stepsons; Kevin, and Kendal Murray.

Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119). In keeping with Phyllis’ wishes, there will be no visitation. The family wishes to invite Phyllis' friends to the Bradley Lake Community Center, 248 Bradley Lake Rd, Rothesay, NB, on Sunday, July 20, 2025, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.  Interment will take place at Rothesay Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in memory of Phyllis can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
