Obituary of Blair Oscar Perrin

In Saint John, after a valiant fight for good quality of life, Blair Oscar Perrin passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Born in Clarendon, NB on October 28, 1933, Blair was the beloved husband, for over 57 years, of E. Irene (Anningson). He is survived by his wife; his sister Ruth McKinney and family; daughters Brenda (Dale Hollingsworth) and Nancy (Francis Dorey); grandchildren Heather and Kevin Feely, and Ryan and Robyn Dorey; and great grandson Tristan Dorey. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Ethel "Etta" (Muir) Perrin, and by a granddaughter, Lana Michelle Feely. An avid outdoorsman, Blair liked nothing better than fishing at Queens Lake or camping. A lifelong New Brunswick resident, Blair lived in Ketepec for over 50 years. He could always be relied upon to help a neighbour with everything from auto mechanics, to plumbing, to construction. A devoted Anglican, Blair served on the Vestry of St. Anne’s Church, Ketepec, for many years. Since its inception, Blair has been an active parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection, Grand Bay-Westfield. As a young man, Blair had many careers. He was a licensed mechanic at Battery and Electric in the 1960’s, and in 1967 he joined the National Harbours Board/Ports Canada, and worked for over 25 years in both the Maintenance Department and the Harbour Police Force. The family would like to thank Dr. Brown and the caring staff at SICU and the 5th Floor Cardiac Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Also thanks to family, neighbours, and friends for their love and support. He was a good man, and will be missed. A celebration of Blair’s life will he held at the Kiwanis Lodge, 1 Eldon Lane (top of Murray Street), Grand Bay-Westfield, from 7-9 PM on Friday, March 29, 2013. A traditional Anglican funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Holy Saturday, March 30, 2013 from the Church of the Resurrection, 20 MacDonald Avenue, Grand Bay-Westfield. At the family’s request, no flowers please. Remembrances to the Church of the Resurrection, the Salvation Army, the Canadian Red Cross, or any charity of the donor’ choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425).
