Obituary of Douglas Joseph Brown

Surrounded by his family the death of Doug Brown, husband of Shirley (Gibson) Brown occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Thursday June 13, 2013. He was born on July 24, 1930 in Saint John to the late Frank and Ena (Brown) Brown. Doug worked at Standard Machinery for 40 years retiring this March. He was an avid sports fan; in his youth Doug loved playing hockey, basketball and was an accomplished bowler. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church. Besides his devoted wife, Shirley, Doug is survived by his nieces, Kim Brown (John Mallory), Jennifer Gibson and Lorraine Gibson; brother-in-law, Douglas Gibson; grand-nieces, Alexandra and Caroline Mallory; grand-nephews, Jeremy and Bauer Gibson and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Greg Brown and sisters-in-law, Shirley Gibson and Norma Brown. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John with visitation on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery.
