Obituary of Lloyd Joseph Muzzerall

Lloyd Joseph "Sam" Muzzerall of Clarendon, husband of Edith T. (Ennis) Muzzerall, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Born in Chatham Head, NB on March 28, 1936, he was a son of the late Archibald and Mona (McIntyre) Muzzerall. Sam was a retired 25 year Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy). After retiring from the Forces, Sam travelled to Toledo, Ohio where he took the National School of Meat Cutting course. Upon his return to Saint John, he worked as a meat cutter, and subsequently opened his own meat shop, Sam’s Meats in Clarendon. He then worked for Correctional Services in Saint John for ten years, retiring in 1996. Sam was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp which he had built on his own property in Clarendon. In addition to his wife Edith, Sam is survived by two sons, Shawn Muzzerall (Alyson) of Berwick, NS, and Corey Muzzerall (Jean Anne) of Saint John West; grandchildren Jessica, Natalie, Parker, and Emma; siblings Marvin Muzzerall, Robert Muzzerall (Shirley), Brian Muzzerall (Mary), Sharon Crossman, Patricia Poulsen, and Marilyn Muzzerall; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. It was Sam’s wish there will be no funeral or visitation. However, relatives and friends are invited to a reception to celebrate Sam’s life, which will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 2-4 PM at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
