Obituary of Alberta Frances Lourie

With her family at her side the death of Alberta Lourie, wife of the late Raymond Lourie (1988), occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on her 90th birthday, February 15, 2014. She was born in 1924 in Olinville, NB to the late Edson and Sadie (McCutcheon) Donald. A lifelong resident of Grand Bay-Westfield, Alberta lived there for over 60 years. She worked at NBTel and Thornes for a brief period years ago. Alberta was a former member of St. Giles United Church and was once a Sunday School Teacher. She especially enjoyed her days of camping in their trailer, and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her children: Bob (Wendy) and Linda Lou Bourque (Don) both of Grand Bay-Westfield; sisters: Phyllis Copp, Blanche McGowan, Jean Beckett (Eldon 'Junior') and Marion Makepeace (Doug Allen); brother, John Donald (Joan); sister-in-law, Mary Donald, grandchildren: Leanne Cromwell (Greg), Heather Lourie (Tom), Nicole Bourque (Josh) and Corey Bourque (Amanda); great-grandchildren: Cameron, Carson and Madison and many nieces and nephews. Alberta was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Charles Donald (2007) and sister, Elsie Johnson (2013). Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visitation Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Bay View Chapel on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the Wesley United Church Cemetery, Brown’s Flat, in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances to charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
