Obituary of M. Elsie McGraw

The sudden death of Elsie McGraw of Saint John occurred on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at her home. Born in Saint John on August 28, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Emilie (Patrick) McGraw. Prior to her retirement, Elsie was employed as a teacher at St. John the Baptist School, a career she truly enjoyed. She also enjoyed fishing and took great comfort in surrounding herself with the beauty of nature. Elsie was extremely passionate about her volunteer work with The Saint John Support Group for Adult Survivours of Childhood Sexual Abuse where she devoted numerous hours of her time helping victims of childhood sexual abuse. Elsie held a special place in her heart for her canine companion, Cloe who will miss the daily walks through the dog park. She will always be lovingly missed. Elsie is survived by her siblings, Shirley Gorman (Raymond) of Saint John and their children, Sean, Meghan and Kathryn, Hector McGraw Jr. (Patsy) of Saint John and Paul McGraw (Brenda) of Saint John and their children, Derek, Mark and Liam; sister-in-law, Sue McGraw of Saint John and her daughters, Brittany and Maggie; as well as several great-nieces and one great-nephew. In addition to her parents, Elsie was also predeceased by her brother, Mike McGraw. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John, on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 11:00 AM.
