Obituary of Peter Alfred Lynch

Peter Alfred Lynch was born November 4, 1935 in Ellesmere Port, England, the second son of Evelyn (Batch) and Lawrence Lynch. After engineering school and a semi pro soccer career, he immigrated to Canada in 1958, and worked on major building projects across Canada. He eventually settled in Saint John, his chosen home, where the city landscape is dotted with the major building projects he managed, projects such as Brunswick Square, Shoppes of City Hall, Saint John Canada Games Aquatic Centre and the J.D. Irving Building, to name a few. An avid photographer, he chronicled work and life extensively, and later in life, his love of music evolved from playing the piano to singing karaoke. Peter was predeceased in 1997 by his wife Georgette (Ouimet). He is survived by his daughter Patricia Martin (Bob) of Fredericton; his son Peter G. Lynch of Toronto; his brother Gerry Lynch and nephew, Peter F. Lynch both of Toronto and his grandson, Morgan Martin of Fredericton. Peter passed away quietly surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He will be missed by family and friends. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West Saint John, from where visiting will take place on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM and will be immediately followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute (Moncton) would be appreciated by the family.
