Obituary of Willem Swagerman
Unexpectedly, the death of Bill Swagerman, husband of Nancy (Cline) Swagerman occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. He was born on January 28, 1934 in Hengelo, Netherlands to the late Arie and Johanna (Schweitzer) Swagerman. Bill worked for NB Power as a construction superintendent retiring in 1992. Bill was member of St. Mark's United Church, St. Mark's Church Board of Directors, St. Mark's Choir, Carleton Curling Club and he was a cruise ship volunteer. Bill was an avid sailor and was heavily involved with the Boys Scouts of Canada.
Besides his devoted wife of over 50 years, Nancy, Bill is survived by his son, Alan (Jacqueline) of Edmonton; daughters: Crystal White (Steve Renaud) of Saint John, Donna Wilson (Bruce) of Edmonton and Karen Swagerman (Chester Snook) of Saint John; siblings: Margaret Butner, Aleid Simons (Bob), Anton Swagerman (Aartje) and Ria Maas (Koos); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425). The Funeral Service will be held from St. Mark's United Church, 50 Dexter Drive on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:00 am, refreshments to follow. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish remembrances to St. Mark's United Church would be appreciated by the family or donors choice..
