Obituary of Marlene Margaret Watson

Surrounded by her family on June 7th, 2014, Marlene Margaret Watson, 68 years old, passed away peacefully at her home in Saint John after her valiant fight with Cancer. Her strong will to live and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried her through 17 months of Chemotherapy. Marlene was born on January 24, 1946 in Grand Bay to parents Norman and Melda Campbell and in 1965 she married her sweetheart and soul-mate of 49 years. She enjoyed spending time with their dear Tim Horton’s friends and the Monday Night Jammers at Jones Creek. Marlene also enjoyed the time spent with her cousin and "special sister" Darlene (Don) Cain to whom she was extremely close. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Marlene and Paul’s best friends Terry and Herb Shewbridge who have demonstrated unsurpassed love and support, both before and during Marlene’s long sickness. Their friendship has been a true blessing not only to Marlene but also to the entire family. Marlene is survived by her devoted husband Paul, daughters Lisa (Chris) Melanson and Stacey (Gerald) soon to be Dugas, sister Susan (Frank) McDermott, special brother Bruce (Lois) Campbell, half-brother Frank (Lorraine) Campbell, half-sisters Shirley Eisnor and Peggy Meko and sister-in-law, Joan Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was also pre-deceased by half-brother Ralph Campbell and half-sister Norma (Vernon) Anderson. Special thanks to all of the staff of the oncology unit at SJRH and the IV clinics at St. Joe’s and the west side as well as the many doctors and nurses who have provided such wonderful care throughout this ordeal. Visitation following cremation will be held at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) on Tuesday, June 10th, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, followed by a private family committal service at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
