Obituary of John Richard Charles Higgins

John Richard Charles "Dick" Higgins, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 26, 2014. Born on April 7, 1928 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Charles C. W. and Winnifred (Carrick) Higgins. He was an active member of Grand Bay Baptist Church, where he served as Trustee, Deacon and was a faithful member of the choir for over 50 years. Dick was a great lover of nature, and found great enjoyment raising and nurturing small animals and birds. Surviving are his wife, Doreen; sons, William R. (Debby), Grand Bay; John C., Saint John; sister, Doreen Harding, Saint John; grandchildren, Andrew (Jill), Brad (Shanna), Amy; 2 great-granddaughters, Gwendolyn and Reese. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Tuesday, July 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Grand Bay Baptist Church, 77 Woolastook Dr., Grand Bay-Westfield at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to the Grand Bay Baptist Future Ministries Fund or the Canadian Diabetic Association or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
