Obituary of Edward Hudson

Hudson, Edward – 3 little boys said, "Sir, our daddy is looking very sick." "Yes boys, I noticed. Why don’t you go and meet him at the gate to welcome him home?" It is with heavy hearts, the family of Edward Hudson, loving husband to Vera (Fudge), announce his passing on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Wesham, England on January 5, 1938, he was a son of the late William H. K. Hudson (Jennie Walton) and Lillian Norman. Edward was enlisted in the British Armed Forces in 1953, serving his country during the Cyprus conflict and the Israel conflict. He was discharged in 1967 with the rank of Corporal. Following his time in the British Army, Edward was employed as a Detective in the Saint John Police Force for thirty one years. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Vera of 47.5 years; daughters Julia Hudson and Jennifer Scott (Bert); a son William Hudson (Karen and her children, Jessica and Malachi); brothers Colin Hudson and Alfred Hartley; a beloved sister Margaret Hanson (Geoffrey); two grandchildren Michael Scott and Madison Hudson. He was predeceased by parents and step mother, 3 infant sons and a brother, Geoffrey. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitng on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 7-9 pm and on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute to a veteran service will take place Thursday at 7:00 pm. A celebration of Edward’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Cedar Hill Field of Honour or the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Due to family allergies, please do not send flowers.
