Obituary of Ross Donald Thompson

The unexpected passing of Ross Donald Thompson occurred on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at his residence in Chance Harbour. Born January 23, 1941 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Victor and Ena Maureen (Amero) Thompson. Ross was known to everyone as a fisherman, and he practically grew up on the boat. Following retirement, he spent his time fishing mackerel for sport in Blacks Harbour and Beaver Harbour, trying to catch as many as his son Shane, although he never caught quite as many. When he wasn’t fishing, he could be found sipping his Tim Horton’s coffee, or hanging around Lancaster Mall. His friendly conversation will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and the family cat "Baby" will miss her lobster supply. Ross is survived by his son, Shane Thompson (Lisa); grandchildren: Amanda, Mackayla, and Dylan; sister, Sally Myshrall (Junior); nieces: Cathy Lagos (Kevin), Tammy Myshrall, Kim Kane (Chris), Wendy Armstrong (Bobby), and Terri Myshrall; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, February 10 from 7 to 9 pm, and Wednesday, February 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 2 pm in Brenan’s Bay View Chapel. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.brenansfh.com.
