Obituary of Alice Elizabeth O'Brien
The death of Miss Alice Elizabeth O'Brien of Ridgeview Manor, Pennfield, NB, occurred on Friday, December 6, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in St. George, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Helen (Magowen) O'Brien. She was a graduate of St. George High School and Modern Business College in Saint John. She was employed by Buchanan Bros. of St. Stephen, later returning to St. George to manage the family business, O'Brien and Gilmore General Store. She moved to Toronto and worked there 2 years, after which she took up residence in Fredericton and was employed with the Department of Health in the Provincial Lab until her retirement in 1976. She had been an active member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Fredericton for many years. Alice got great enjoyment being with her extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends. She is survived by her nephews, Erald (Ruby) O'Brien of Bedford, NS, Delvan G. (Marion) O'Brien of Saint John, John (Pat) Wilcox of Pennfield, NB, David (Connie) Wilcox of Rothesay, NB, Harold and Jackie of Orlando, Florida, and nieces, Mary Wilcox of Halifax, and Barbara O'Brien of Orlando, Florida. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas J. of Fredericton, Jack of Orlando, and a sister, Eileen Wilcox of Pennfield, NB. Following cremation at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506) 634-7424, visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 1:30 PM from St. Matthew's Presbyterian Church, 90 Douglas Avenue, Saint John, NB. Interment to follow at a later date in St. George Rural Cemetery. Remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
