Obituary of Mona Isabel Ellis
- Obituary of Mona's husband Arnold - The death of Mrs. Mona Isabel (nee Brown), of Saint John, wife of Arnold Ellis, occurred on Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home. Born in Saint John, on September 17, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Margaret (McCook) Brown. Mrs. Ellis was a graduate of Saint John High School and Modern Business College. She was employed as a book keeper for Central Garage and Ellis Motors Ltd., for many years, before her retirement. In her youth, Mona played competitive badminton and won New Brunswick Open and Invitational Mixed Double Badminton Championships. She was a former member of the Riverside Golf and Curling Club and St. Andrew's Curling Club. She was Secretary for the Dr. Robert's Chapter of the I.O.D.E., a member of St. John's (Stone) Church and was active in the A.C.W. She enjoyed travel, playing bridge, reading and was an avid knitter of slippers for her family and many friends. In addition to her husband, Arnold, she is survived by one daughter, Jean Hutt (Robert), and grandsons, Timothy and Jeffrey Hutt all of Fredericton. She is also survived by a sister, Constance Giggey (William), and a brother, Donald Brown, all of Saint John, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Lorna and Ruth Brown and Aurona McDermott. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 22, 2002 at 11:00 AM. Interment in the Maces Bay Community Cemetery.
