Obituary of Blake Talmadge Farris

The death of Blake Talmadge Farris of Saint John, NB occurred on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Cumberland Bay, NB a son of the late Beverly and Elizabeth (Patterson) Ferris. Blake was raised by his maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Phillips and spent his childhood in various areas, including: Saint John and Carlingford, NB, Fairfort and Caribou, ME. He was a veteran of the Second World War having served with the 8th Hussars in Canada, Britain and Northwest Europe. Blake loved nothing better than to share stories about his childhood, time spent in the war and raising a family on McClaren Blvd. He retired from Dave Black Transport as a driver. Survived by four sons: Ronald (Sandra), Terry (Jackie), Robert (Lise), all of Saint John, Kevin (Dawn) of Halifax, NS; one daughter, Ola Poitraw of Caribou, ME; sister, Alta Trecartin of Saint John; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews and his extended family the Leblanc’s, with special mention, Rachel and Jayden. Predeceased by his beloved Bea; his son, LeRoy; two brothers, Arnold and Belmore “Duke”; two sisters, Libby and Vera; nephew, Dairen. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday evening at 7 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 2:15 pm. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension, Field of Honour. Remembrances may be made to the IWK or a charity of the donor’s choice.
