Obituary of Cynthia E. Matthews

The death of Cynthia “Cindy” E. (nee MacDonald) Matthews, of 66 Westminster Court, Saint John, beloved wife of Bradford “Brad” Matthews, occurred unexpectedly on Monday, April 9, 2007 at her residence. Born in Saint John on April 20, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Norma (Burns) MacDonald. Cindy was employed with NB Tel/Aliant for 29 years before her retirement in 2002. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed being a part of her children’s school activities at M. Gerald Teed and Lorne School’s. Cindy was a member of the Anglican Parish of Millidgeville, the New Brunswick Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed cooking and gardening. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Ross and Scott, both at home, step-sons, Keith (Nadine) of Lower Sackville, NS and Stephen of South Africa, step-daughter, Jennifer “Jen” Matthews of Moncton, one brother, Bill MacDonald (Margo) of Orleans, ON, one sister, Vivian MacDonald-Mitton (Steve) of Moncton, two granddaughters, Isabelle and Catherine, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, Luke and Daniel Patterson, nieces, Angela MacDonald-Colson and her daughter Lily and Heather MacDonald and her very special friend for many years, Marg Taylor. Resting at St. John Baptist (Mission Church) & St. Clement’s, 819 Millidge Avenue, Saint John, with visiting on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. John Baptist (Mission Church) & St. Clement’s on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
