Obituary of Louis Sterling Earle

The death of Louis “Dubie” Earle of Saint John, NB occurred on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Milford, NB on September 15, 1915, he was a son of the late Robert Melbourne and Ella Mae (Splane) Earle. He was a longtime employee with the Province of New Brunswick, retiring from the Department of Highways in 1980. Louis was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church and served on the Vestry. He was a member of the RAOB New Brunswick Lodge for many years, he volunteered at Romero House and was active with the friends of St. Joseph’s. He donated hand made toys to the Empty Stocking Fund, so that less fortunate children would have a little something extra. Survived by five children: Robert (Lorraine) Earle, Marilyn Ogden, Elaine Earle, Richard Earle and Janis Hebert (Doug Hawkes); seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friend Bonnie Gillespie and he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife Georgie (Saunders) Earle and his second wife Thelma (McColgan) Earle, brothers, Herbert, Percy, Charles and Clarence Earle; sisters, Hazel Craft, Florence Chamberlain and Gertrude Lister. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. At Louis’s request there will not be any visiting at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held from St. Luke’s Church, Main St. on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Empty Stocking Fund or any charity of choice
